Summer Guided Walks Programme

GUIDED WALKS

Informative historical and geographical walks including local sites of interest.
Learn a little about the local area in an informal group with an
experienced leader/guide.  All walks are between 5 and 10 miles and
of easy/moderate difficulty and can be tailored to suit the group's
ability.

June 5. BRAMPTON CIRCULAR TO TALKIN TARN via the old Dandy railway line.
Meet outside Brampton TIC. 12.30. Return for 16.01 bus.
July 3. BRAMPTON TO LANERCOST and return.  Meet outside Brampton TIC
12.30. Return for 16.01 bus.
Sunday – 19 June, 17 July, 14 Aug.  ALSTON TO KIRKHAUGH and Whitley Castle
Roman Fort. 11 am Alston Station. Own transport.
August 7. LANERCOST AND HADRIAN'S WALL. Meet at the Priory gateway, 12.30.
Return for 15.54 bus.
September 4.  LOOKING FOR THE ROMANS NORTH OF CARLISLE including part of the
Hadrian's Wall National Trail.  Meet at Tullie House entrance opposite the Castle. 12.30 (no bus).
October 2. BANKS TURRET TO BIRDOSWALD. Meet at the Turret 12.35. Return for
15.35 bus.
Other venues or route-finding instruction by arrangement.  Phone or e-mail
for enquiries.
Cost £5 per person payable on the day - information pack included.
Most walks tie in with the AD122 Hadrian's Wall Country Bus on both
outward (11.55 from Carlisle) and return journeys.  Concession passes
accepted. Wear good footwear (walking shoes/boots) and waterproofs
and bring a snack for late lunch/afternoon tea plus money for entry
to any sites.
