GUIDED WALKS – HIDDEN CUMBRIA
- Informative historical and geographical walks including local
sites of interest.
- Learn a little about the local area in an informal group with
an experienced leader/guide.
The walks are between 5 and 10 miles and of easy/moderate difficulty.
19 May, WHITLEY CASTLE AND KIRKHAUGH CHURCH, 10.45 train from Alston to Kirkhaugh, return on foot to Alston.
23 June, HALTWHISTLE BURN AND GT. CHESTERS. Meet Haltwhistle Market Place, 10.32 (09.20 AD122 from Carlisle). Return on 13.10 AD122 or 13.56 No 685 to Carlisle.
14 July, BRAMPTON CIRCULAR to Talkin Tarn and The Gelt via the old Dandy railway line. Meet outside Brampton TIC, 09.46 (09.20 AD122 from Carlisle). Return on 13.56 AD122 or 14.15 No 685 to Carlisle.
25 Aug, BRAMPTON TO LANERCOST via hidden Hadrian’s Wall. Meet outside Brampton TIC, 09.46 (09.20 AD122 from Carlisle.) Return by bus from Lanercost at 13.49 AD122 to Brampton/Carlisle.
22 Sept, IRTHING GORGE via Banks. Meet Lanercost Priory gateway 09.52 (09.29 AD122 from Carlisle.) Return for bus from Lanercost 13.49 AD122 to Brampton/Carlisle.

Cost £5 per person, payable on the day - information pack included.
Some walks tie in with the AD122 Hadrian’s Wall Country Bus on both outward (from Carlisle) and return journeys. Concession passes accepted. Wear good footwear (walking shoes/boots)
and waterproofs and bring a snack for late lunch/afternoon tea plus money for bus/train/entry to any sites.
